Why Your Wedding Music Doesn't Have to Be "Traditional" (And Why Live Beats a Playlist Every Time)
When people think of wedding music, they often think of the same ten "safe" songs. But your wedding day is a reflection of you—your style, your history, and your favorite playlists. If you love Iron Maiden, why should you have to walk down the aisle to a generic piano track?
At Something Blue Acoustics, we’ve made it our mission to bridge the gap between "unconventional" tastes and the "sacred" atmosphere of a wedding ceremony.
From Metallica to Madonna: The Art of the Acoustic Cover
We’ve had the pleasure of performing songs that most people wouldn’t associate with a wedding until they hear them stripped back. Some of our favorites include:
The Trooper by Iron Maiden (Yes, really!)
Rasputin by Boney M
Material Girl by Madonna
Nothing Else Matters by Metallica
The secret isn’t just in the song choice; it’s in the arrangement. Damien is a highly skilled instrumentalist who specializes in taking high-energy, heavy, or quirky tracks and translating them into beautiful, melodic acoustic versions. This allows you to have "your" song without it feeling overpowering or taking away from the solemnity of the service. It’s about creating a "vibe" that feels both intimate and uniquely yours.
The YouTube Spotlight: Robert Miles - 'Children'
We recently took on a bit of a challenge: an acoustic version of the 90s trance classic, Children by Robert Miles. You might think of it as a club anthem, but when played on an acoustic guitar, it becomes a hauntingly beautiful instrumental piece that fits perfectly into a drinks reception or a ceremony entrance.

Why Live Music Beats Spotify Every Single Time
We often get asked: “Can’t we just use a Spotify playlist?” Technically, yes. But a playlist can’t feel the room.
One of the biggest advantages of hiring us is our ability to adjust on the fly.
The Ceremony Flow: If a bridal procession takes a little longer than expected, Damien can seamlessly extend a bridge or loop a chorus. If things move faster, we can bring the song to a natural, beautiful close.
The Atmosphere: A playlist has one volume and one speed. We can read the energy of your guests. If the drinks reception needs a bit more energy, we dial it up. If it’s a quiet, emotional moment, we pull back.
A playlist is a recording; we are a performance. We ensure the music serves the moment, not the other way around.
Let’s Create Your Soundtrack
Your wedding music should be as unique as your love story. Whether you want a classic ballad or a heavy metal anthem turned into a lullaby, we’re here to make it happen.
